Wise Words of Lisa, take five

The Gomery Report has been released.

It's major findings.

So according to the report, Chretien is to blame. Doesn't surprise me. Although I am interested in how Martin wasn't involved, seeing as he was finance minister at the time that it was going on. I said at the very beginning of this that either he's a lying, stealing bastard along with the rest of them - or he's just dumb. According to the report it's the latter, as he didn't notice when millions of dollars went missing with no documentation or explination.

I want an election now. Chretien stayed in power too long, and only by bribing various corporations with my tax dollars. It's disgusting. Worse than that, it's appauling. They have no right to be governing over me.

  • He was also one of the senior members of the Cabinet. And decided where all the money goes in the budget. There's no way he's completely innocent.

  • True.

My honest opinion is that the Gomery report isn't the complete, 100% truth. I don't think anyone really does. I don't think Martin is completely free of all guilt and blame, and I don't think that Chretien is the one to blame for the entire fiasco. I think it's most likely somewhere in the middle.

We also have to keep in mind that Gomery was indeed appointed by Martin, and is a liberal. Could you imagine what would have happened if he had found the PM guilty? I doubt he ever would have. He has a liberal slant, of course, because he sees things through liberal eyes (same would have happened if anyone of the same party did it). So if his report was that harsh, imagine how bad the real situation must have been.
